Apprenticeship Program

“Yeah, but do you work on airplanes at your job?”

Can you think of a more exciting job than working on aircraft? Okay, maybe being a superhero, but becoming an A&P Aviation Mechanic is a close second.

C&L Aviation’s Apprenticeship Program provides a paying job and employee benefits for an apprentice as they gain on-the-job experience to prepare for the FAA certification examination and a career in aviation. The FAA’s Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate is required for all aircraft mechanics to sign off on aircraft maintenance.

A&P Aviation Mechanics, also known as Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMT), are in high demand with a projected 610,000 job openings for maintenance technicians around the world by 2041. At C&L, our A&P mechanics can expect a starting wage of $23 an hour, which is an annual income of $47,840.

If school isn’t for you, that’s ok, we’ve got you covered. We have a 3-year apprentice program that requires no prior Aviation experience to enroll in. Applicants with previous experience and/or a military background may qualify for our accelerated 1-year apprenticeship program.

About C&L’s A&P Aviation Mechanic Apprenticeship Program

Apprentices benefit from the close-knit, small size of the program and the 1:1 ratio of apprentice to mentor. Throughout the program, apprentices work under a certified mechanic for both Airframe and Powerplant.

This 6,000-hour period is based on the FAA requirement of a minimum 30-month experience in Airframe and Powerplant. Applicants with documented experience from a previous job or the military may be eligible for our accelerated A&P program.

Throughout the program, apprentices will meet FAA and FAR training requirements. Upon completion of the program, apprentices will be eligible for the A&P certification test.
